CVE-2013-0211
CWE-189Published: September 30, 2013· Updated: Jun 16, 2026
5.0
CVSS v3.1
Official Description
Integer signedness error in the archive_write_zip_data function in archive_write_set_format_zip.c in libarchive 3.1.2 and earlier, when running on 64-bit machines, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via unspecified vectors, which triggers an improper conversion between unsigned and signed types, leading to a buffer overflow.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2013-0211 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
