CVE-2012-6075
CWE-120Published: February 13, 2013· Updated: Jun 16, 2026
9.3
CVSS v3.1
Official Description
Buffer overflow in the e1000_receive function in the e1000 device driver (hw/e1000.c) in QEMU 1.3.0-rc2 and other versions, when the SBP and LPE flags are disabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (guest OS crash) and possibly execute arbitrary guest code via a large packet.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2012-6075 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
