Official Description
VideoLAN VLC media player 2.0.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and application crash) via a crafted MP4 file.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2012-2396 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
