CISA KEV Advisory
Red Hat JBoss Information Disclosure Vulnerability
Unauthenticated access to the JBoss Application Server Web Console (/web-console) is blocked by default. However, it was found that this block was incomplete, and only blocked GET and POST HTTP verbs. A remote attacker could use this flaw to gain access to sensitive information.
Apply updates per vendor instructions.
Risk Analysis
This vulnerability in JBoss Application Server Web Console allows remote attackers to gain access to sensitive information due to an incomplete block on unauthenticated access. While access is blocked for GET and POST, other HTTP verbs can bypass this, posing a risk to data confidentiality. The high EPSS score of 0.65338 and its inclusion in CISA's KEV confirm active exploitation.
Active exploitation of this vulnerability has been observed in the wild. The flaw is remotely exploitable, allowing attackers to bypass access controls.
Ensure that all HTTP verbs are properly restricted for unauthenticated access to the JBoss Application Server Web Console. Apply any available patches or configuration changes to fully secure the web console.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2010-1428 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
CISA has added CVE-2010-1428 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, confirming active exploitation in the wild. U.S. federal agencies are required to patch this within the mandated timeframe, and all organizations should treat remediation as urgent.
