Official Description
libclamav/untar.c in ClamAV before 0.95 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a crafted TAR file that causes (1) clamd and (2) clamscan to hang.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2009-1270 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
