Official Description
Multiple heap-based buffer overflows in Titan FTP Server 6.03 and 6.0.5.549 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash or hang) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a long argument to the (1) USER or (2) PASS command, different vectors than CVE-2004-1641.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2008-0702 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2008-0702. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
