Official Description
The management service in IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager for OS Deployment before 5.1 Fix Pack 2 does not properly handle multipart/form-data in HTTP POST requests, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via crafted POST requests to port 8080/tcp or 443/tcp.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2007-1868 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2007-1868. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
