Official Description
Direct static code injection vulnerability in admin.php in PHP-Stats 0.1.9.1b and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via a crafted option_new[report_w_day] parameter in a preferenze action, which can be later accessed via option/php-stats-options.php.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2006-7173 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2006-7173. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
