NVD-CWE-OtherPublished: August 30, 2005· Updated: Jun 16, 2026
2.1
CVSS v3.1
Official Description
The inputtrap utility in QNX RTOS 6.1.0, 6.3, and possibly earlier versions does not properly check permissions when the -t flag is specified, which allows local users to read arbitrary files.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2005-2725 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2005-2725. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
