Official Description
Serv-U FTP server before 5.1.0.0 has a default account and password for local administration, which allows local users to execute arbitrary commands by connecting to the server using the default administrator account, creating a new user, logging in as that new user, and then using the SITE EXEC command.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2004-2532 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2004-2532. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
