Official Description
Sophos Anti-Virus 3.78 allows remote attackers to bypass virus scanning by using a qmail generated Delivery Status Notification (DSN) where the original email is not included in the bounce message.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2004-2088 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
