Official Description
CRLF injection vulnerability in Serendipity before 0.7rc1 allows remote attackers to perform HTTP Response Splitting attacks to modify expected HTML content from the server via the url parameter in (1) index.php and (2) exit.php, or (3) the HTTP Referer field in comment.php.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2004-1620 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2004-1620. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
