Official Description
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in D-Link DI-614+ SOHO router running firmware 2.30, and DI-704 SOHO router running firmware 2.60B2, and DI-624, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary script or HTML via the DHCP HOSTNAME option in a DHCP request.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2004-0615 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2004-0615. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
