Official Description
Buffer overflow in ZMailer before 2.99.51_1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code during HELO processing from an IPv6 address, possibly using an address that resolves to a long hostname.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2002-2198 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
