Official Description
SSH before 2.0 disables host key checking when connecting to the localhost, which allows remote attackers to silently redirect connections to the localhost by poisoning the client's DNS cache.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2001-1474 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
