Official Description
Netscape Communicator does not properly prevent a ServerSocket object from being created by untrusted entities, which allows remote attackers to create a server on the victim's system via a malicious applet, as demonstrated by Brown Orifice.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2000-0711 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
