State's Attorney Office was compromised in a ransomware attack attributed to kairos in December 2025. The organization, operating in an undisclosed sector in Unknown, was added to the group's data leak site as part of an extortion campaign.

kairos operates as a financially motivated ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) operation, exfiltrating sensitive data and threatening public disclosure to pressure victims into paying ransom demands.

The Victim & Witness Services Unit also includes the Family Bereavement Center (FBC) – the only bereavement center in the state with a full-time staff to serve survivors of homicide. Since opening its doors in 1990 the Center has provided survivors of homicide victims with individual counseling sessions, bi-weekly support groups and workshops series focused on creative coping skills such as meditation and creative writing.
